Effects of History
We need to know who we are and what happened to us. For this we go into our history before the Europeans came. We will look into the books and read in between the lines and see what was going from our perspective.
According to Mann, author of the book 1491, we were a thriving continent with tens of millions people. We had everything in place that was needed and we were living in harmony with Mother Nature. Shortly after the landing disease ravaged us and drastically reduced our population. We were put in disarray and by the end of the 18 century there was talk of us going by way of the buffalo, extinction.
Fortunately due to our resilience and some acknowledgement of our worth to society we have survived and are now starting to reassert ourselves. After all, we do have an inalienable right to live on this earth. And we have the right to access what ever it is that we need through what ever means that are available to us.
In saying this probably the most significant shield to our demise has been our belief system and the world view stemming from it. There have been many interpretations of this starting with the medicine wheels strewn throughout the plains.

At first it was presented in linear fashion by anthropologists and archeologists writing about us. Then the Lakota Sioux showed us a two dimensional image of it in a medicine wheel. The next step would be to further this presentation by offering it in a three dimensional format which will lead to an understanding of the fourth dimensional aspect of it.
